Here’s something you probably hadn’t thought of in your search for the ideal neighborhood: owning a ringside seat at the dog competition. That’s right. Local retrievers vying for the Canine Cannonball and Best Retriever awards at last weekend’s Lyons Outdoor Games competed at the pond just behind the homes in Lyons Valley Park.
It may not seem like a big deal to you, but those dogs — and their owners — were an enthusiastic bunch. The athleticism of a motivated retriever leaping from the platform in pursuit of a toy duck is a joy to behold. Kinda makes you feel good all over.
